Counseling Services
We serve teens and adults, who experienced childhood trauma.
Trauma is the emotional response to any terrible event. Trauma can result from a sudden terrifying experience or multiple less traumatizing situations that result in psychological damage over time. Research shows that these traumatic experiences not only affect psychological health but also affect physical health as well.
the concept
In order to obtain sustainable wellness, it's important we understand the relationship of all three
components as they relate to brain health: counseling, nutrition, and exercise. Working on each of these components together will drastically improve your brain health so you can be the best version of yourself.
I emphasize holistic practices and incorporate information and goals related to nutrition and exercise as a form of coping and healing from trauma. Trauma is just as much emotional as it is physical. Nutrition and exercise not only help reduce trauma symptoms in the short term, but they have the power to help re-wire the brain in establishing healing and longevity. I believe in you, and I know we all have the power to change our path to one that is more fulfilling, healthy, wholesome, and sustainable.
counseling
Just as you would go to a doctor for a physical, going to a brain health provider is also beneficial for everyone. Meeting with a licensed practitioner allows for a deep dive into who you are.
nutrition
Your brain is working 24/7. It never gets a break and in order to run efficiently, it needs the proper fuel.
exercise
Exercise helps release the 'feel good' chemicals in your brain such as dopamine and serotonin which in turn affects your mood.
about
I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and I believe that a healthy brain must also include a healthy body. Whole body healing is crucial in general and especially necessary when healing from trauma. Addressing health through counseling, nutrition, and exercises allows for you to dive deeper into understanding your essential self- the part of you that is free from trauma and ready to live a fulfilling life.
My therapeutic career centered around my work with children populations. I worked at a brain center that specializes in helping children with developmental diagnoses enhance their ability to function without medication. I worked at child protection agencies to provide therapy for children who experienced extensive traumas I expanded my clinical work to include working with college-age students and again witnessed a variety of functional impairments and brain health issues in the students who nearly all endorsed childhood traumas. Additionally, as part of my extended role at a child protection center, I worked as a parenting educator for parents working to regain custody of their children. Over the years, I've conducted many family sessions to address the systemic issues following trauma. With this diverse background, I understand how trauma manifests in individuals across the lifespan.
I have combined the knowledge I've gained from my educational, professional, and personal background and research to create a holistic approach to wellness that I know can provide lasting effects and healing. Meeting with my clients is one of my passions. Outside of my professional role, I'm always researching topics related to health and wellness. I enjoy learning about how the brain and body communicate and how to achieve optimal health and a balanced lifestyle.
